Horses are gentle by nature, but have three major strengths: their stamina, their speed, and their suitability as mounts. Rangers who love long journeys -- which is most Rangers -- often take horses familiars to express and assist this aspect of themselves. Rangers are unmatched riders, are horse familiars are unmatched steeds. The power of horses lends itself naturally to leadership as well: Rangers bonded to horses have a supernatural ability to inspire condifence in their followers. Rangers and their horses are vaunted as cavalry leaders for this reason.
