Description | Rearchitected the way shoggoth organs that modify attributes are handled, both to make them vastly more memory- & computation-efficient and to impose scaling limits on how they're applied. Shoggothim no longer have flawlessly scaling physical & mental architecture for no particularly well-explained reason; there are now coordination issues among their many parts. This means that modification to a particular attribute now has a diminishing returns curve applied; there are now coordinating organs that exist to improve this curve (increasing coordination efficiency), and various organs including the coordinating organs themselves have side effects that slightly degrade the efficiency of other subsystems. (I haven't added such side effects to all the places they're likely to show up.) This begins to add a concept of build tradeoffs beyond space allocation in shoggoth setup. |
Reason | Linear scaling of shoggoth organ-based modifiers gave ludicrously game-breaking results when sufficiently optimized, and the whole system needed more in the way of nuance and tradeoffs. |
Result | Shoggothim work somewhat differently and, for sufficiently powerful builds, are heavily nerfed. |
