Description | formerly, if a special attack hit someone who was not in combat, they would initiate combat against the attack source ("kill x"). now there is an activity cost imposed before that command for (a) realizing that they are being special attacked, and (b) closing the distance to the attacker. the former is based on things like arcane lore and tactics (for sentient beings), and the latter by move cost (the amount of activity it takes to move rooms). for animals and such, there's a chance, depending on the characteristics of the attack (its vector and such), that they just don't realize at all that they are being attacked, and don't initiate combat. |
Reason | noticed that initiating combat with a special attack now gave the target a free round of attacks against you, as per some other recent changes. wanted to model the fact that e.g. an azure mage would cast the spell across the room from the person, or whatever |
Result | modeling, easier to initiating combat with special attacks |
